It feels good to put words on paper again.
Words have always been my way of digging deep and figuring things out.
Life has been a lot lately. Well, much longer than lately. For the past seven months, I have felt like I have been in survival mode, and going into December, I know that it is going to get worse.
December is a tough month. This year represents the twenty-year mark since my sexual assault. Twenty years ago my life changed forever and every December, my body remembers.
I am coming into December knowing that this is the year I want things to change. I am ready to move forward and make big things happen for me and my family.
I have loved sharing my monthly goals with everyone and so I am going to continue doing that. For December though, I am not focusing on business and blogging goals. This month, like November, I am focusing on personal goals.
Before I can focus on business and blogging goals, I want to get crystal clear on what I want to do in my everyday life. Things that will bring me closer to reaching my business goals because I will be in a better mindset to achieve those goals.
A REVIEW OF MY OCTOBER PERSONAL GOALS
Since I didn’t do any goals for November, we are going to review the goals that I was working towards in October.
GOAL #1: DO A NO SPEND MONTH
This goal I did not do. With Christmas coming, I am going to wait until the new year to do this. I may start small and do a no-spend week but that will be figured out closer to January.
GOAL #2: FINISH THE CHALLENGE WITH MY HUSBAND
We did a wellness challenge for September and October. I did well and I have carried some of those things into November and continue to do them now.
GOAL #3: START MEAL PREPPING
This I have not done. I have started to meal plan but there are days that I struggle with the follow-through. Plus we have had sickness hit our house over the last couple of weeks and we have been dependent on eating out more than usual.
I have started, although not consistently, of prepping a few things for my kids during the week. We made muffins a couple of weeks ago and we are doing it again this week. If you have any tips for meal planning and prep, I’d love to hear them!
PERSONAL GOALS FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER
I have to be more intentional in December than I do any other month of the year. This month will be the twenty-year mark of my sexual assault. I am not quite sure how I feel about that yet. Somedays it feels like it has been longer than that and other days it feels like it was yesterday.
I know that this month is always harder and so I am hoping that the groundwork that I started laying in November is going to help. I am also hoping that the goals that I am working towards are going to help me to focus on other things.
Does anyone else feel behind this year? I am!
I have no plan for Christmas shopping and I am just winging it. I haven’t created lists of the things that I have already purchased or lists of what I still need to buy. It is December 3rd and I am nowhere near where I should be when it comes to getting Christmas shopping finished for my children. And don’t even get me started on my husband. What am I going to buy him this year?
So instead of focusing on the things that I need to do, let’s dive into the goals that I am setting for myself.
GOAL #1: READ FOR 30 MINUTES PER DAY
I love reading and find that I go through spurts where I read nonstop and then again when I don’t read for a while. If I am tired or feeling off in any way, I take this off of my list of things to do.
One of my goals for my 101 goals in 1001 days list is to read 35 books. So far I have read six books and I am working on the seventh.
I want to find a way to fit in at least thirty minutes a day to read. I am trying to find where it is going to fit best in my schedule but it will be in there.
GOAL #2: GET MY SILENT MEDITATION TIME UP TO TWENTY MINUTES
Currently, I am at the seventeen-minute mark for my silent meditations. Every week I want to increase by one minute. I have been consistently doing my silent meditation every night since November 1. I have missed one day since then and that was my Christmas party night.
GOAL #3: START A COURSE ON UDEMY AND FINISH IT BY DECEMBER 31, 2023
Another one of the goals that I am working towards on my 101 goals list is to take a new course every month. I love learning and there are a few things that I am contemplating and I want to see how adding this into my life is going to help me. I am going to start with an SEO course.
GOAL #4: DRESS UP MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY
As a way to get myself to focus on all of the good things in my life, I have decided to dress up Monday through Friday. Dressing up makes me feel good and honestly, I just never do it often enough. So here I am, challenging myself to show up by looking my best and wearing the business clothes that I bought. Watch my IG for photos of my daily outfits.
GOAL #5: DRINK AT LEAST 80 OUNCES OF WATER PER DAY
I have struggled with drinking enough water in the past. I have gotten better and every day I drink my chlorophyll water and then after that, it kind of falls off. So I am working on this. I know that this will make me feel better in many different ways.
GOAL #6: START MY 30 DAYS OF HAPPY JUICE
I finally took the jump and am trying out Happy Juice. I will be documenting my journey with the product so that everyone can see how it works. I am excited to see if this can make a difference in my life.
Those are the goals that I am working towards for December. What are you working towards?
