Business Blogging Doesn't Have To Be Hard

What if I told you that you are already creating all the content that you need for your blog?

Would you laugh and tell me that I’m crazy??

You see, blogging doesn’t have to be this complicated entity that you can’t control or understand. Blogging for your business can be easy and attainable. You just need to know what you are doing or hire someone to do it for you.

THE BENEFITS OF BLOGGING FOR YOUR SMALL BUSINESS

Let’s start with benefits because why would you add something else to your plate if it isn’t going to benefit you in any way.

BENEFIT 1| IT DRIVES PEOPLE TO YOUR WEBSITE

Well doesn’t that seem like a benefit enough to start a blog? You want to bring new and potential clients to your website. How else are they going to find you or even see what you have to offer?

I want you to think about this for a moment.

On your current Instagram account, what is the link that you are sharing? Did you create a pretty LinkTree page or even a Milkshake account? Where is your traffic going? You are sending your traffic to a third-party app and then sending them to your website. Why would you not just create a link page on your website and drive traffic to your own website?

Yes, that is different from driving traffic through a blog but you see the point? You want to continue to drive people to your own website so that they can look around and see all that you have to offer.

BENEFIT 2| YOU CAN REPURPOSE YOUR CONTENT FOR ALL YOUR OTHER PLATFORMS

Writing blog post content doesn’t mean that you have to create all new content. If you currently don’t have a blog and you do have social media, you can go through your posts and create blog post content from there. You can do the opposite as well. Turn your blog posts into social media posts. You don’t need to constantly be in content creation mode. You just need to have a strategic plan in place.

BENEFIT 3| CONSISTENTLY UPDATING YOUR WEBSITE

Search engines love when you are consistently updating your website and the best way to do that is to make sure that you are creating blog posts. This helps to build trust and brand authority through the knowledge that you share.

BENEFIT 4| ANSWER CUSTOMER QUESTIONS IN A MEANINGFUL WAY

I have said this many times but now, more than ever, consumers want to know who they are buying from. They want to know that their money is staying in their community. Blogging gives you a platform to share what is important to you and your business. It helps you create connections and build a community.

Honestly, the benefits of blogging for your business could go on and on but now that we have covered a few of the benefits, let’s talk about how we can make blogging for your business easier.

MAKING BUSINESS BLOGGING EASY TO ADD TO YOUR CURRENT CONTENT PLAN

As you can see from the benefits and the statistics, blogging isn’t dead and it is a great way to bring in clients, build a community, and attract leads. Now is the time to start a business blog to help you and your business grow and expand.

As entrepreneurs, we like to do things ourselves. We like to learn how to do everything because that is just who we are. I know I am this way. So we are going to talk about how you can easily add a business blog to your website and to your current content plan without feeling overwhelmed.

Saying this doesn’t mean that it is going to be easy. It means that you are going to have a plan to implement blogging into your current content strategy. You are still going to need to take the time to create quality content that your readers are going to enjoy and that is going to help build your brand authority.

We are going to start with the basics and go from there.

STEP ONE: ADD A BLOG TO YOUR CURRENT WEBSITE

This is going to be your starting point. Downloading the blog page to your website will give you a blogging page that you can begin to publish on. I use Wix and here are the steps to add a blog to your Wix website…

  1. Go to your editor from your Wix dashboard.

  2. Go to the add button on the left-hand side.

  3. Click add blog.

  4. Set up your blog settings.

  5. Create blog categories.

  6. Start writing blog posts.

That’s it. Adding a blog to your Wix website is super simple.

STEP TWO: DECIDE ON A BLOGGING SCHEDULE

Remember, you are a busy entrepreneur so start small. Start with one blog post per month and build from there. This gets you in the habit of creating blog content and taking your time. Choose the same day every month to publish your blog post. It will help build your consistency.

STEP THREE: LOOK AT YOUR ALREADY CREATED SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT AND PICK SOME THAT YOU CAN TURN INTO BLOG CONTENT

Remember how I said at the beginning of this post that you already have all the content that you need to start a blog? This is what I mean. Your social media feed is full of your content. Now you just have to turn that short content into longer blog posts.

You can do that by combining a few different social media posts that are relevant or you can grab one post and dig even deeper into the content. If you are looking for topic ideas for your blog, check out my blog post on the 50 best blog post topics for women entrepreneurs.

You truly do not need to keep creating new content to have a successful business blog. For example, my Instagram feed has over 1,700 posts. All I need to do is scroll back and see what content I have spoken about in the past. Most people on IG don’t scroll back to see what you have posted so this is a perfect way to start collecting content ideas to turn into blog posts.

A couple of years ago, I published a video on my Facebook page that showed how I turned a Facebook post into a blog post. Give the video a watch to see how I do that.

STEP FOUR: ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE A BEGINNER BLOGGER

Don’t let perfection stop you from starting that business blog. Jump in and just start publishing. Your posts will get better over time and your readers can see the journey that you are on.

If you need help with blogging for your business, reach out and I would love to help you build your business blog.

I don’t want you to get so caught up in blogging the correct way that you don’t even start. You can learn as you go. The benefits of blogging for your business are going to outweigh the beginning stages.

Blogging is still the best way to build your SEO and your brand authority so start adding it to your content plan. Blogging can and will be easy with these steps. You just need to give yourself time and grace to learn it and practice it.

If you are ready to get started but need help with your business blog, I have space for you to start in April. Summer is coming. While other businesses are taking breaks, let me help to consistently build up your blogging efforts to help build your business in an organic way.
