I know, let’s learn more about how SEO works. We will talk about 3 of the most basic components of SEO.
3 EASY TO LEARN FUNDAMENTALS OF SEO
1. Keywords & Keyword Targeting
The first main component we are going to discuss is keywords and keyword targeting. So, what is keyword targeting? It is when you use keywords relevant to your product or service on your website and ad copy. In order to do this properly, keyword research must be done to determine which keywords your business should be targeting.
It is important to be conscious of keywords as you create each page of your website. Though this is true, you must also be wary not to sound too redundant. Keywords are one of the most fundamental skills in the SEO profession. When done correctly it will help you increase traffic but help you garner leads.
Let’s not forget there are many different types of SEO keywords. Which type of SEO keyword you choose to use will determine how SEO works for you. Depending on how you want to approach your SEO and which keywords you use will determine your goals. Here is a list of some of the more used types of keywords.

2.Link Building
Link building is the process of acquiring hyperlinks from other websites to your own. This process is important for SEO because search engines use links to crawl the web. Not only will they crawl the links between the individual pages on your website but they will also crawl the links between entire websites. SEO is a fast-paced and dynamic field. That’s why it’s crucial for you to stay well-informed and learn continuously.
When a search engine looks at a link there are two ways they use them. They use them to discover new web pages and to help determine how well a page should rank. When a search engine looks at your web page it will not only scan the content but also look at the number of links pointing to that page from other websites. Generally speaking, every high-quality link that links to your page will make you more likely to rank well in search results.
Links are a very important signal that the search engines use to determine rankings. Though this is a big deal, there are other benefits of link building. It can often involve reaching out to other relevant websites and blogs in your industry. This is a great way to build long-term relationships with key influencers in your industry. The more of these relationships you have means your business becomes highly regarded and trusted.
3. On-Page and Technical SEO
On-Page SEO has to do with the HTML code of the web page. Search engines don’t look at a page the way a person looks at it. On any web page, there is an option to see the code of the page if you right-click. Technical SEO is the name for everything else that is important on your page, such as site speed. SEO is not only about targeting search engines but the real people viewing the pages as well.
Meta tags and meta descriptions are a part of the HTML code, they describe the website’s content. There are many tools and plugins you can use to analyze your content in terms of focus keyword usage in meta title, meta description, headings, overall keyword density, alt image attributes, and others. My favourite that I personally love to use for my own website is Yoast for WordPress.
One of the SEO basics is connecting your site to the Google Search Console (former Webmaster tools). The other major technical SEO problem is website speed. It’s known that 50% of web users expect a site to load in 2 seconds or less. One way I like to test the speed is with PageSpeed Insights.
There are so many tips and tricks to SEO. I hope this list helped you see how much is out there to understand how SEO works. The sooner you realize that search engine optimization isn’t optional anymore, the better off your website will be. However, don't become overwhelmed. Start small by doing your keyword research before writing your next blog.
