This is a time for stories. Where we hear about communities pulling together, individuals sharing their talents, and countries around the world showing compassion.
There are moments in our life that define us. We are currently experiencing one of these moments. I don’t want to focus on the negative impacts of society right now. I believe that everywhere we are currently looking we are seeing those impacts. Instead, I want to focus on the positive and how we can change and inspire growth around us.
If you have followed me for a while, you know that I began blogging as a way to share my story. Now people are looking more than ever to feel less alone in the current crisis. Sharing your story, your tips, and what you are doing to get through these times is needed more than ever. Connecting with strangers as a way to grow stronger as a community will help us all grow in ways that we didn’t see happening even 3 weeks ago.
REASONS TO BEGIN A BLOG IN A TIME OF CRISIS
We are desperately searching for answers. Answers to so many different questions. What are you doing to keep your kids occupied? How are you homeschooling your kids? What are your ways that you are supporting local businesses in self-isolation? How are you ensuring that you are taking care of you during these confusing times? You don’t need to know any or all of the answers to your questions but documenting what is helping you through these times will help someone else who is struggling.
We want to see positive stories. We are drawn to stories of overcoming and surviving hard times. We love to see success stories. The news and media outlets are being inundated with negative. Let's change the narrative. Share the positive thoughts and experiences you are witnessing in all of the surrounding negative news. It is a great way to open up communication in times when we are feeling lonelier than ever.
You will have a record of documentation regarding these crazy times. Think of all the stories that you can have to share with your children when they get older and even your grandchildren. Documenting in the midst of a global crisis is a great way to be in the moment. It will remind you of all that you have overcome and survived. Bring in the emotions of uncertainty and concern. Bring in the emotions of happiness and joy. Show the reconnection of your family through shared dinner time, board games, school activities, and movies.
It takes the fear out of the present moment. There seems to be so much uncertainty that feeling scared and helpless are common feelings. Writing out your feelings and how you are managing in the now, helps you to process all of these emotions. Knowing that you are trying your best for everyone involved helps you to take it day by day. It may not take the fear completely away but it is helping you to move past the times that are confusing.
Now, more than ever, we are looking for a way to relieve the pressure of our daily lives. We are feeling stressed to the max. We are feeling overwhelmed. We are feeling confused. If writing helps to alleviate even a % of these feelings we are on the right track. Writing connects us especially in a time when we are being isolated from one another.
We are ready to read your words of triumph and stories. We are craving connection and blogging can help give us that. If you are wanting help with blogging, don’t hesitate to reach out. I would love to help you get started.
