I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. I didn’t grow up around other races except for a few Mexicans. I didn’t know colour. I didn’t see colour. Maybe that is why I never truly thought about myself as having white privilege. I saw people as people and I realize now that maybe that was never enough. I should have been celebrating their differences. I should have been praising them, uplifting them, and empowering them in ways that I was empowered growing up. I never had to worry if I was smart enough or brave enough to do something. I was taught that I could just do that. And that is the difference that I am learning about more and more over these past few days.
Giving myself a voice has saved my life in many ways. I want to be able to give that to someone else and that is part of my why. Being able to give these women an ear to actually listen to what they are saying is the first step in bringing in the change that they need and deserve. My platform was created to give ANY and ALL women a voice and I may have been holding back even with that, unknowingly.
This blog post is dedicated to all of the amazing BIPOC women that are out there. Fighting the struggles that I have never had to fight. Fighting to show who they are because their skin doesn’t look like mine. Together we are stronger. Together we can and will change the world. Together our words will create a bigger impact. Now is the time to share your words and your stories. For some of us, it may be the first time we are truly listening. For others, it may be the time when we realize that we were never against you but we were never truly helping either.
I love to share women bloggers. I always have. With yesterday being #blackouttuesday and focusing on sharing BIPOC for the rest of the week, today I want to share 3 female bloggers that you shouldn’t wait to read. They will have you laughing, crying, and learning with the words that they share.
These women have created beautiful platforms. They are out in the world sharing their journeys, their experiences, their humour, and their words. They are giving a place for other women to share their words as well. I am a HUGE believer that words have the power to change the world. I want to share the words of these women to help them create a bigger impact than they already have. Each of these blogs has impacted my life in a different way.
3 FEMALE BLOGGERS WHO ARE CHANGING THE WORLD
This website is packed full of so many articles. You can find anything from culture, faith, politics, social media, and more. I have also found that she is the author of a book called, I’m Judging You. I will be ordering it as I have added it to my Reading Material Pinterest board.
She also has a free online summit on her website called Influential Personal Brand. I am signed up and ready to learn. Explore her website and you will be busy all day.
A blog post that she wrote a couple of years ago was eye-opening for me. Especially since the other day, I watched a video from a business FB group that was exactly this. A white woman breaking down on video. She used it in an attempt to make other women feel bad for her and used her tears to gain power. This is what Luvvie’s blog post is about. Check out, How White Women Use Tears as a Weapon.
I love this website because it believes in what I do. The power of storytelling. It allows women to share their stories and embrace those stories. The tagline is celebrating the fullness of Black womanhood. That gives you everything that you need to know about this beautiful website. For Harriet has grown from 1 blog to a network of 5 blogs by the founder and editor in chief, Kimberly Foster.
A post that I loved and that I couldn’t get enough of is, How Therapy Gave Me the Grace I Needed to Breath Easier. I felt connected to the author of this post. I highly recommend that you read it.
The colours of this website make me feel happy. I love it when I can go to a website and it immediately fills my day with joy. Finding this blog has changed the energy of my day. She has a podcast with a series called, Living Stories.
I have a weakness for journals and CicelyRenee has beautiful journal kits on her Etsy page, Hello Fringe. Go and support her Etsy shop. I am stuck between the self-guided journal kit or the be bold be free journal kit.
She also has a blog post that I needed to see at this moment. It is all about purpose. I think questions around our purpose come up often in our lives and she breaks it down beautifully. At the end of the post, she gives you some journal prompts to help you through your process of finding your purpose and deeper questions to ask yourself.
Each of these blogs has impacted my life in a different way. Giving myself a voice has saved my life in many ways. I want to be able to give that to someone else and that is part of my why. Being able to give these women an ear to actually listen to what they are saying is the first step in bringing in the change that they need and deserve.
I can never take away your pain and how you have been treated in the past but I can empower you and lift you up now so that your voices continue to be heard. My gesture may feel small and like not enough but I know that by sharing your voice, you will change the world around you. Creating impacts that allow those around you to start healing.
Thank you for these beautiful women for standing in their power and sharing their words and the words of other women.
